How to get rid of scorpions in your home – DYI scorpions control
The Arizona bark scorpions are commonly found in the Arizona desert and unfortunately throughout the Phoenix metro area. Arizona bark scorpions are 1-3 inches in length and have a distinct pale yellow color. Bark scorpions are usually small, very quick and can be difficult to spot due to their coloration. However, scorpions glow strongly under blacklights, which can be used to spot them at night.
Scorpions like to live in cracks, crevices areas found in homes and other structures. In Phoenix area, a favorite place scorpions like to live is inside concrete block wall fences that divide back yards and neighbor! These areas provide cool shelter during hot days and warmth in the winter. When block wall fences have cracks, joints that aren’t sealed or layers that are missing mortar, they are the perfect hiding and living spaces for scorpions.
Black light
Black light or also know as UV light is good to look for scorpion at night. The scorpions glow bright green. Start scorpion hunting at night around 10:00 pm at night around property block all. Look inside the crack and crevices.
Seal block wall
One of the most important and easy steps to control scorpions and other pests is sealing the crack and crevices in block wall fences. Seal your block wall fencing with common caulking. Take a weekend and walk the fence line, fill the crevices the both front and back. It’s going to take a lot of caulking, but if you can seal even the areas closest to your home you will keep scorpions away.
